The primary program is set to serve children ages 3-6 that have been successfully toilet trained and are ready for a full day of school. Children aged 3-4 are offered a nap after lunch and outdoor exploration. Children in their kindergarten year are given additional lessons during the afternoon that help prepare them for first grade.

The guides in our primary classroom are certified and expertly prepared to put Maria Montessori’s methods and philosophies into practice. Through a deep understanding of human development, the child is exposed to lessons in all areas through hands-on experiences that activate their senses. Each teacher and classroom environment is prepared purposefully and methodically to feed the interest of the child and motivate them to continue learning about their world. The child is viewed as a sponge that is ready to absorb all the knowledge at their disposal.

When a child first begins in the primary classroom, the main focus is to introduce them to a peer social setting in which they can grow the ability to be independent, have confidence in themselves, extend their focus time, and learn to be part of a peaceful community that shows respect for one another. Academics include four major areas of learning; practical life, sensorial, math, and language. Cultural lessons are also a major component at Maravilla Montessori and include daily Spanish lessons, detailed fine arts practice, science demonstrations, and guest musician performances.
